NOTICE OF VACANCY
Appointment to the office of Chairman, Equal Opportunity Tribunal
of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago
Pursuant to the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act. No. 69 of 2000 as amended by Act. No. 5 of 2001 “the Act”, the Judicial and Legal Service Commission proposes shortly to advise the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to appoint an individual to the office of Chairman of the Equal Opportunity Tribunal. The Act provides that the Tribunal shall be a superior court of record and that its Chairman shall be a person of status equal of that of a High Court Judge and be entitled to the same emoluments as a judge.
The Commission invites applications for the aforesaid office from suitably qualified nationals and members of the Commonwealth Caribbean, who have been admitted to practise as Attorneys-at-Law in Trinidad and Tobago, or called to the Bar of England and are of not less than 10 years standing.
n addition to the minimum qualification set out above, the applicant should be aged between 40 and 57 years and fulfil the criteria by which the Commission is guided in making appointments to the High Court Bench viz. professional competence, integrity, temperament and experience.>
All applications must be accompanied by a full resume of the applicant who must be available for interview by the Commission, if required.
The Commission does not bind itself to make an appointment from among those persons who apply.
Applications are to be contained in sealed envelopes marked Equal Opportunity Tribunal and should be delivered by hand or registered mail addressed to:
