“GOLD TO DIAMOND” BRIEFING FOR GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATORS

All On Board For Public Service Week Celebrations On Wednesday 23rd May 2012, thirty–two (32) communications representatives from across the Public Service attended a meeting hosted by the Ministry of Public Administration (MPA) to discuss the public service week of events to be held from 16th to 23rd June 2012. The MPA provided the details of the events planned for the week - a 5K Walk/Run at the Queens Park Savannah on 16th June; a 4-day Open House at the Waterfront Esplanade (June 18, 20, 21 and 22); a One-Day Open House at Harris Promenade, San Fernando (June 20); and a Gala Awards Ceremony, “From Gold To Diamond” honouring 50 outstanding public officers on 23rd June, 2012 at the Trinidad Hilton.

Public Administration Minister, Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, commenting on the large attendance and the high level of interest shown by the professional communicators, said, “This is a truly positive step and demonstrates that the process from Gold to Diamond has already begun in the Public Service.” There was considerable support for the plan to honour fifty public officers who served with distinction during the post-independence era and who laid the foundation for the transition from gold to diamond. Participants agreed that it is time the many positives of the public service are highlighted, especially the increasing quality of service delivery.
