PUBLIC SERVANTS TURNED OUT TO WORK; IGNORED DUKE’S CALL TO STAY HOME
Thousands of public servants turned out to work today ensuring their desks were manned and their offices operated effectively. There were no reports of any concern.
Checks revealed there were no unusual absences or any reports of disruption to the normal operations of the Public Service despite calls for “a day of resistance” by President of the Public Service Association (PSA), Watson Duke.
The Minister of Public Administration and Communications, the Honourable Maxie Cuffie extended congratulations to public officers for doing their duty and ignoring calls to disrupt work.
“This is especially welcomed in a period when the country’s productivity is being called into question and its reputation is at stake, especially as we seek to invite much-needed foreign investment. What is even more encouraging is that the attempted disruption was ignored despite its proximity to the Easter holiday long weekend.”
Minister Cuffie said the rejection of the PSA’s call to stay home, is evidence the public service is slowly embracing the new culture of responsibility and productivity which is being promoted by the Government.
